I just wanted to thank you for the superb job you did for us. Your input and support was invaluable and there is no question that without you onboard the outcome would not have been so positive. Although the issue probably appeared small to you the outcome was so important to our club. The player is now a keen member of the squad.

The things I appreciated most was your accessibility and positive, but honest view of the situation. I enjoyed working with you and definitely look forward to using Sportscounsel in a proactive manner in the near future. I will continue to highly recommend your services to who ever will listen.

Once again thanks mate, You're a gem!

  • Are you avoiding the legal minefields in sport?

Ten years ago not many people had heard of Sports Law as a recognised field of practice. However, times have changed and Sports Law is a recognised specialty.

If you needed open heart surgery would you go to your GP or brain surgeon? Of course not, you would seek out the best cardiologist in town because you want to know that the surgeon knows what she is doing when you are under the knife. It is the same with law. If you have a dispute with your employer you would not go to someone who conveys houses. Yet, so many people with sports law problems go to regular lawyers.

Michael Smyth of Sportscounsel is a specialist Sports Lawyer. He has been in practice for over 8 years in both the UK and New Zealand and holds a post graduate certificate in Sports Law from Kings College, London. What sets Sportscounsel apart for the rest is our knowledge of sport and the issues involved with sport. To find out more about the advice we give click here.
