Are you looking for a way to motivate your staff or clients and add value to your service?
We live in a service industry. Companies that can provide good service and added value sit head and shoulders above their opposition. Does your company add value for its staff and customers?
If you want to add value to your service the best way to do that is to give your staff or customers something that will last a lifetime - knowledge and motivation.
Compared to rowing the Atlantic, most things are small fry
Imagine rowing 5000km across the Atlantic, non stop with your partner, 2 hours on, 2 hours off. Battered by waves, tormented by blisters, aches and pains, utterly sleep deprived. If you can imagine that, now imagine doing it twice and being the fastest men to complete this arduous journey.
You're now starting to get an idea of the type of people Steve Westlake and Matthew Goodman are - determined, courageous, strong, persistent and ruthless planners. Having won the Trans-Atlantic Rowing Challenge in 2001, they make their bid to retain their title in October. Follow their story on their web site.
Would you like to share their story with your customers or staff?
There is not much in business terms that cannot be related to rowing across the Atlantic. Whether it be the values of teamwork, persistence, determination, courage, fighting against the odds, or winning with integrity - Steve and Matt have a story to tell.
Steve and Matt are completely mad!
Here's what Jeremy Corbett, DJ and comedian, had to say about Steve and Matt:
Steve and Matt are completely mad: keep them away from me or I might catch their insanity. Their talk to us at MORE before the trip was great. When they spoke they came across very organised, friendly to talk to and very natural at presenting. They were great.
The image of the boys isolated on that expanse of water was incredible. The amount of time they rowed for and the simple pleasures they enjoyed and were denied, really underlined just how huge the undertaking was. By phoning in to the show every day or so I think we all felt a little connected to the challenge. Certainly with the developments at the end, I think those that heard the calls would have felt up-to-speed. It was an interesting experiment and they made use of astounding technology. If they were to do it again I would suggest they get a sail!!
